Adrienne R. Butcher is a Texas native who grew up near Giddings, Texas. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University in 1997 and worked as a special education teacher for the Austin Independent School District until pursuing her law degree in 2002.
Ms. Butcher earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2005. In law school, she served as the Chief Articles Editor of the Houston Law Review. During her tenure on the Review, she received the 2005 John O’Quinn Writing Award for the Best Casenote Written in the Area of Constitutional Law, and her casenote was published in the Review. Ms. Butcher also competed in tournaments for the University of Houston’s mock trial team in 2004 and 2005.
After law school, Ms. Butcher served as Briefing Attorney for the Honorable Leslie B. Yates on the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston. After leaving the Court, she practiced for two years with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas in Austin, specializing in civil defense of State employees.
Ms. Butcher is licensed to practice in all Texas state and federal courts, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
