Nona C. Matthews, a shareholder in the firm, is a 1993 graduate of South Texas College of Law. She graduated with honors from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, in addition to certifications in Deaf Education and Deficient Vision. Before beginning the practice of law, Ms. Matthews taught special education in Texas public schools for nine years. Upon graduation from law school, she worked as a solo practitioner representing parents of children with disabilities in special education issues. She is a frequent speaker on a wide variety of special education topics and a past adjunct professor of school law at North Texas State University. Ms. Matthews joined the firm in July 1995 and assisted in opening the firm's Irving office.
