Joe R. Tanguma is a 2000 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. In 1997, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining the firm, he worked for six years with a private law firm in Corpus Christi, Texas where he practiced general school law, employment law and civil defense litigation. In 2004 and 2006 he was selected as a Texas Rising Star in Education Law and was recognized in Texas Monthly and the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star Edition. Mr. Tanguma is a member of the State Bar of Texas School Law, Labor and Employment Law and Litigation Sections, the Dallas Bar Association, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Association of School Boards’ Council of School Attorneys and the National Association of School Boards’ Council of School Attorneys.

Mr. Tanguma has provided training for administrators and educators in a myriad of general education topics at the state and local level, and has provided continuing legal education for attorneys in the area of school law through the Texas State Bar.  He is licensed to practice in all the state courts of Texas and the United States Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas. He is also licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  He has successfully represented and argued cases on behalf of school districts in state and federal court, including the Fifth Circuit.
