Jan Watson represents Texas school districts in special education matters, including preparing staff for and attending Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings, filing and responding to requests for due process hearings, consulting with school personnel regarding special education matters, negotiating during mediation sessions, preparing witnesses and evidentiary materials for due process hearings, and representing the district at hearings.  In addition, Jan provides training for general education and special education administrators, teachers, and service providers on legal topics related to special education.  Jan has an extensive background in special education. Prior to attending law school she taught students with auditory impairments in El Paso ISD and Fort Worth ISD, and she served as educational diagnostician for the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf in Lubbock ISD.  In addition to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in special education, Jan is a graduate of the Texas Tech School of Law.
